PEACE CORPS: Information Meeting, October 11
Are you tired of mediocre? Are you seeking adventure? Want an opportunity to work abroad? The Peace Corps can promise an opportunity for adventure abroad while you help others.
The Peace Corps began in 1961 as a call by President Kennedy to challenge young people in the United States to serve other nations by promoting technical skills, cross cultural understanding, and peace. The strength of Peace Corps lies in the volunteers who commit two years to living side by side with communities at need around the world. Volunteers learn foreign languages, develop professional skills and knowledge in international development, and experience exceptional personal growth. Most importantly Peace Corps volunteers represent the best virtues of American culture: service, patience, understanding, and compassion. Peace Corps volunteers' benefits include full medical coverage, ample living allowances, flexible vacation time, student loan deferment, and travel expenses paid in full. Peace Corps currently needs students educated in the following fields: education, information technology, the sciences, business development and environment. However, students from all disciplines are encouraged to apply. Please come to a special information session next week in the EMU to learn how to become a Peace Corps Volunteer.
