Run for the Cure Foundation in Tokyo, Japan

About the Organization- The Run for the Cure Foundation is an organization that funds education and awareness programs throughout Japan. The Foundation is aided by the support of major corporations and organizations that are willing to donate their time, money, goods and energy to fulfill their mission. Their mission is to increase awareness of the importance of a positive breast health regimen, to strengthen support groups for women in Japan who suffer from breast cancer, and to raise funds to support and encourage the advancement of breast cancer research. Internships consist of three main areas of work:

    * Information dissemination and awareness-raising

    * Fundraising events

    * Other project funding activities

Special Knowledge—Academic backgrounds could include International Studies, Japanese Language and History, Sociology, Asia Studies Intercultural/Multicultural Studies Women’s Health, Science, or Public Health. General skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access; excellent English or Japanese writing skills; detail-oriented; experience running events or PR; experience, skill and/or strong interest in community issues, intercultural communication and research; maturity; the able to work alone sometimes and interest in event coordination, public or women’s health, patient empowerment, community development, or policy development. Language requirement: English fluency with conversational Japanese OR Japanese fluency with conversational English.

 

Helpful, but not required: Interest in corporate-community relations and CSR or Interest in breast cancer and/or public awareness

Spring Term:              November 15
