Success Story of the Week: Jerry Benson '00, Target Corporation
Take advantage of the opportunity of a lifetime by creating your lifelong connections with those involved with the career center. I had the opportunity late in my senior year to work along with the career center and Lundquist College of Business in an effort to market myself for the careers that were available. The advantage that the University of Oregon career center helped me out with was getting in touch with those businesses that had a career path I was looking for. They helped me out by providing me with a network of resources from who/what businesses to talk with, along with the lifelong skill of assessing which I continue to leverage everyday. What helped me out the most was a greater understanding that in an interview, you should not only be the interviewee but the interviewer as well. Being able to assess people and businesses is a lifelong skill I will continue to use when networking and implementing process improvements as we move from the industrial era to logistics era in North America. The U of O and Career center was a great start to my career at Target and will continue to be a partnership I can leverage in the future.
