What does an advertising account executive really do? What do you want do after graduation? If you're taking time off between now and graduate school, what will you be doing in the mean time? What should you be doing? And isn’t it time you got around to writing that resume?

If any of these questions or thoughts have occurred to you (or if you've been told you ought to be thinking about them), you're not alone. Let's face it, thinking about preparing for graduation and a job search is scary. The Career Connections Program is here to help you with that.  

What is the Career Connections Program?

A one-credit class offered through various departments. It meets once a week for ten weeks for fifty minutes. That's ten classes where you get to focus on who you are, what your career interests are, where you want to be, as well as learn about the tools you'll need for a job search. You'll finish the class feeling more confident about your resume and your career interests.

What do you do in class?

  • You'll write a resume, or revise your current one, and learn how to write a cover letter.
  • You'll practice answering the dreaded "Tell me about yourself" question. 
  • We also show you how to set-up and conduct an informational interview.

But we do more than just show you: we help you find two career professionals working in careers that are interesting to you so that you can do two informational interviews as part of class. Students enrolled in Career Connections Program classes have access to a database of career professionals through UO-JobLink. Want to know specifics? Click here for a class syllabus.

How Do I Sign Up?

Look for classes under CARC in the class schedule, or click on the box above to check next term's availability. We strongly encourage you to take a class in your major, if offered, or a class that fits your interests since each of the classes' material is tailored slightly differently, although the assignments are the same.
