Questions to Ask a Potential Internship Site

• How does this internship fit with what I want to do? What skills will I be using?
• What will the internship entail? What projects have previous interns worked on?
• Who will be doing the training? How much time will be involved in the training? Will there be other staff involved in the training? Will I have the opportunity to observe an expert? How much direct contact will I have with my supervisor for feedback or for training? How much will I be observing and how much will I be doing?
• Will I be learning from an expert? (Example: if it is a marketing internship, is your supervisor a marketing specialist?)
• Will you have a workspace that is designated for me?
• Will the internship be paid? Will I need to receive credit for this internship? (Some employers require you to receive academic credit for your time spent on the job.)
